This week, One Nation landed in the hot seat, as party leader Senator Pauline Hanson was forced to defend her staffer, Mr James Ashby and Queensland Senate candidate Mr Steve Dickson, who were recorded courting officials from the US-based National Rifle Association regarding Australian gun legislation.

Senator Hanson has since claimed that her comments in the larger video were heavily edited.

In a press conference on Thursday, Senator Hanson appealed to voters, saying that One Nation policy on gun ownership would remain as stringent as the current laws.

The revelations and coverage have been a challenge for the Federal Coalition Government, with the Prime Minister, the Hon Scott Morrison MP, announcing that the Coalition would preference Labor ahead of One Nation in the upcoming Federal Election.

‘… ultimately this is a decision from the party organisation, but my recommendation to them, which they’re accepting, is that One Nation will be put below the Labor party at the next election by the Liberal Party’.

Senator Hanson did not hold back when criticising the move, telling the Prime Minister, ‘you have just handed the keys to The Lodge to Bill Shorten, Di Natale and the CFMEU. You are a fool’.
