With the Governor-General presiding over the opening of the 45th Parliament next Tuesday, CapitalHill Advisory is pleased to provide you with an outline of the Spring 2016 Parliamentary Sitting Schedule.

The Sitting Calendar features the sitting schedules for all federal, state and territory parliaments nationally.

Determining which Committees and Inquiries should be established and/or resumed will be a priority for the first sitting week.

Parliamentary ‘Friendship Groups’ are also likely to be settled early on, with new MPs and senators expressing interest in the groups they wish to join.

In the 44th Parliament, the Government established a number of Backbench Policy Committees, which are likely to resume for this latest term. CapitalHill will keep you updated as to the composition of these various groups.

Did you know: The scissors icon on the Parliamentary Sitting Calendar denotes the cut-off dates for when Bills must be introduced into the Senate. After this date, no new Bills are allowed to be introduced into the Upper House.
